A new Total Network Inventory update is here, and it continues our recent work on making database storages more convenient for teams using several TNI instances at the same time.
In the previous release, we focused on multi-user improvements for the Software Asset Management module. This time, we’re bringing similar improvements to two more important areas of everyday work: Scheduler and Data transfer.
TNI 6.8.5 improves how scheduled tasks and data transfer methods work when more than one TNI instance is connected to the same database storage.
Users working from secondary TNI instances can now create and edit scheduled tasks without switching to the primary instance first. This makes database storages more flexible in shared environments, especially when different team members are responsible for inventory automation, data import, or report delivery.
Data transfer changes are also synchronized between different TNI instances. If one user creates or updates a data transfer method, other connected instances can receive the change immediately, helping everyone work with the same up-to-date configuration.
This is another step in the same ongoing transition we covered in the previous post: moving more storage-related functionality into the SQL database and reducing dependency on the file-based part of the storage. The practical result is simple – fewer restrictions for secondary instances and smoother work for teams.
This release also brings several improvements to collected data.
Microsoft Office LTSC license key collection has been improved, helping TNI provide more accurate software and license inventory for modern Office installations.
We’ve updated CPU reference information as well, so newer processor models can be recognized and displayed more accurately in inventory data.
For Adobe software, TNI now includes a new Edition field. This helps distinguish editions such as Pro and Standard separately from the general software name and version, making Adobe software records clearer in inventory and reports.
The update also includes improvements to several database storage operations, including Active Directory synchronization and primary mode interception, along with other fixes across the product.
