Newbie here...

We have multiple cloud presences. If a probe for a monitor requires it, would the authorization (username/password) be passed clear text from one cloud environment to the other over the internet?

Please advise.

In advance, thank you for your help.

The authorization is required for the probes that use SMB protocol. The versions of this protocol that are implemented in modern Windows systems don't send passwords in clear text over the network. SMB uses challenge/response algorithm for authentication. Though in general this is not very safe protocol, as it does not use public key cryptography and thus has some vulnerabilities. So it is not recommended to use it over the Intenet at all, unless it's tunneled inside VPN or VLAN.
