Hi

I am student working on a course project using TNM. The software is great and easy, but the problem is in sending email action.

it is not working

Can anyone help in setting up the email notification. I want an email to be send from zzz@hotmail.com to *XXX@hotmail.com .
I need a step by step help as soon as possible please :''''''( .... The deadline is next week


The error:

stmp server wrong reply (530 5.7.0 Must issue a START TLS command first)

TNM does not support encrypted SMTP (STARTTLS or TLS). You should use another mail service which supports PLAIN AUTH (not Hotmail or Gmail).

I get SMTP server wrong reply (535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure ). or SMTP server wrong reply (421 4.4.2 xxx Error: timeout exceeded ).

Which E-Mail Provider can i use with TNM?

Please make a suggestion for one! I have tried gmx.net and yahoo too but it doesnt work.

We have been notified that the Russian free email provider mail.ru can be used without TLS support.

I am having a simalar problem i am using the smtp server of my isp. mail.optimum.net on port 587 . ..when i send a test email i get

ive added the server requiers authentication option but now im recieving the error

I found installing a local mail server gave me all the functionality I required - I used MailEnable on the same server as the TNM install - that gave me the ability to create lists, rules, and all kinds of fancy things. MailEnable is also free, and you can set it to relay all mail to another email address as well.
I went this route for many reasons, some of which were because I have the ability to filter emails before they leave so I am not blown up by too many eMails for the same thing.

For you, using MailEnable will allow you to forward mail to any other service provider.

Its very disapponting to waste with searching which mail provider will work. Install a mailserver, use russion free provider?

Only for getting notifications?

i think they have to do some homework
